At age 7, Rachel proudly purchased Janet Jackson's album Control with her allowance money, and her life would never be the same again. Rachel competed on the high school surf team, danced with various hip hop teams, and eventually directed an adult hip hop crew called 220. She graduated from UCSD with a B.A. in Filmmaking and a Minor in Dance. She believes it is an absolute honor that people walk into her classroom and put their trust in her to work towards their fitness goals, push them yet keep them safe, and hopefully (and most importantly) inspire them even if in the slightest way.
What Uplifts her? Little life moments that feel more like beautiful cinematic moments. I even keep a list of favorites. Prime example: I was in a cafe waiting for a girlfriend who was running very late. This old man reading his paper in the booth across me finally looks over his glasses at me and goes, "he's not worth it" and goes back to his paper.
Her guilty pleasure? Kind of Guilty Pleasure: Staying in to read on Friday nights. Namely Graphic Novels. Extremely Guilty Pleasure: Hot Cheetos dipped in Cream Cheese. (Don't judge me)
