She will be teaching a super-special class, BALANCE: 45-minutes of total body conditioning using low impact HIIT and strength training exercises to improve balance, coordination, and core stability.

Strong Women Uplift Each Other Series: 7 Pillars of Confidence

Join us for some wine and speak upon how confidence is life’s enabler. It is the quality that turns thoughts into action. It gives us the sense that we can achieve what we set out to do. This is a characteristic that is incredibly potent, essential, and unfortunately for women, appears at an alarmingly short supply. Perhaps it is time we stop putting our heads down and stop playing by the rules. Let’s start by shaking our comfort zones and speak about how we can cultivate and foster more it in our personal, financial, and emotional relationships.

  • Kimberly Gudowski, Business Development Manager at the Financial Gym who will guide us through fun, easy-to- follow techniques to strengthen our “economic muscle”.

They will cover the tactical and emotional steps to starting your new career journey in this ever-evolving working world in which we live covering topics such as: overcoming shame, getting clear on your values, redefining success and work/life integration, reclaiming your power at work & what it means to step into your own powerhouse, finding your calling, and breaking through fear.     Featured Guest: Sarah O'Brien Hammond

    In this workshop, Sarah will cover the importance of networking and surrounding yourself with the right people, balance (in both work and life!), self-care, recognizing, articulating, and creating your personal brand, and what we can gain from reviews in the work place. She will also demonstrate  how to arm ourselves to have the courageous conversations, discuss the difference between who people perceive you to be versus who you are, the value of nonverbal communication in the workplace, plus dig down deep into the mechanics of business etiquette, resume-building (and the importance of always having your resume updated), social media (highlighting LinkedIn), and key pointers for a successful interview.

    Founder of AthayaFitness, Chelsea will teach a 30-minute full-body mobility and strength class that will incorporate movements via bodyweight, sliders, and resistance. This class will focus on mobilizing and activating your spine, joints, and muscles that will combine compound movements to not only strengthen but will provide the stability and mobilization to increase your durability through and after the workout. After class, Chelsea will sit down and speak with us about her career shift from long time dancer to personal trainer, where her passion for fitness was born, which later cultivated itself into a realm for female empowerment through strength. (sound familiar, Uplift-ers?!). #StrongIsBeautiful is a movement Chelsea created to bring women of diverse fitness backgrounds, together to advocate that strength comes in all forms and sizes. What does feminism mean? Feminist history, the different waves of feminism, and intersectionality. Thought leader: Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, Ph.D. Associate Professor of History at the New School, author of CLASSROOM WARS: Language, Sex, and the Making of Modern Political Culture (Oxford, 2015), and co-host of the Past Present podcast.

Major policies (and policy changes) under the current administration and how they impact our lives.

Fit and Fierce After 50 Series

Many of our clients have experienced our wonderful personal training or small group training at Uplift--working with our amazing clients in an intimate and personalized setting is one of the things we love most about our cozy studio.

Led by our very own Vera, we're turning our eye to the fantastic women over the age of fifty in our midst who want to continue to be fit and strong for years to come.
What does this mean? These small group training sessions are designed with an understanding of the strengths and challenges faced by women over fifty. The sessions will tackle slowing metabolisms and bone density loss while being mindful of overuse injuries, surgeries, and yes, hot flashes. Be ready to work hard, have fun and be fit and fierce with women your own age.

A Love Triangle Event with Leanne Shear & Chelsea Dornan

This awesome, Brooklyn-based "Triathlon" will start at 2:30pm on Saturday, February 11th at Chalk Gym in Williamsburg. We'll kick things off with a 30-minute spin class with Chelsea and then a 30-minute bootcamp with Leanne, closing down the workout with Chelsea's yoga stretch. Afterward, we will freshen up and head to a local bar for a glass of wine or two (included in the price of the event). Though the workout is women-only, we will certainly find time to mingle with the less fair sex afterward,  just in time for Valentine's day ;)

Please arrive no later than 2:15pm to get set up! Bring a change of clothes for our trip to the bar after.
